How are you ringing in the New Year tonight?
Well most of the morning i've spent at home hanging out with Roxxy and hubby. Roxxy and I went for a walk and then I watched some cooking shows I had taped a couple months ago. Later I hung out with mom while she prepared the pozole, which btw she did not let me help her. She said I've done too much already...
Oooh, The Twilight Zone marathon is on, YES!!!
Mom and I went to the hospital to visit a family friend. Although I was unable to talk to him we spent some time catching up with my cousins and their kids. it was nice to lighten the mood just a bit. They are planning on coming over in a bit to have dinner with us.
We are going to spend the evening with my family eating mom's pozole, dessert from Amy's Bakery and I brought my portable bar with me. We are going to make several cocktails and watch I don't know what to ring in the New Year.
Happy New Year to all!
Well my morning was a bit of a haze since I woke up pretty sleepy and groggy. I'm sure taking cough medication last night had nothing to do with it. Oops! Come on, you can't blame me. Every time I want to sleep in I end up waking up at 6:30 am. Now come on, do you still blame me? I had to take it but I do regret it because it took me a while to finally get around to getting some coffee in my system. I will not do it tonight that's for sure! ;)
I had a nail appointment this morning that lasted about two
hours. I had a new set plus a pedi and lots of gossip! I love to listen to other stories. I bet I would have been a great therapist except that I didn't want to go to college so that's that...I watched some of President Fords' funeral and scenes of Hussein's hanging. Wow, I still can't believe it!
Hubby and I had lunch at the mall, returned some stuff and boy were the lines long! OMG what a waste of time standing in line...eek! And after a while everyone and everything gets on my last nerve and I feel like shouting to everyone around me to stop breathing on me and get out of MY space!!! The good thing is that I found a kewl note book to carry in my purse and I got the cutest hot pink suede date book both 50% off! We got some new blinds to replace the broken ones in the office and some comfy pillows and sheets. We were waiting for a sale and we found it! ;) I heart sales!
While hubby read his book on weight loss I ate dessert and watched a cute flick called The Family Stone. It was a total chick flick and it so made me cry but it's worth watching it on cable or renting it. I don't think I would have seen it at the theater, it's not that good. Plus it's somewhat cheesy as all chick flicks tend to be.
On a sad note my mom's best friend's husband which we consider family because we grew up together, is in the hospital due to a heart attack and he is not doing very well. I am going to visit the family tomorrow and will also help mom make pozole for dinner.
Every year once it gets closer to the end of another year I say to myself that I cannot believe how fast time flies. I'm already 33 years old going on 34 in October and have been married for almost 13 years! I think I have a pretty great life. We don't have kids because I think we were one of those peeps that were not meant to have kids. Perhaps this is the way God wanted it? So instead we have Roxxy, a two year old Yorkie that I love to death.
Looking back to 2006 I think we did pretty well. We were pretty
productive and accomplished a lot around the house. We got our kitchen floor done; got some killer tiles, roosters all over the walls and painted the walls a mellow yellow. We also got the bathroom painted a light green. We replaced our big ass big screen with a much nicer flat screen with a new tv stand and we also replaced our old lap top with a Dell. I upgraded my cell phone from a low budget one to a pink razor. I lost 10 pounds and started going to the gym. I've cooked more and I'm actually getting better at it... There were some bumps along the way but that's a part of life. I gained some friends and lost some as well. Perhaps it was never meant to be? Overall work is going well and after a couple bumps I got a nice pay increase, which is very nice. I am looking forward to next year and have a list of things I want to accomplish. Wish me luck!We had a nice afternoon shopping and had a late lunch at
Cheesecake Factory @ the Grove. We went to look for the red Coach wallet I was hoping to get for Xmas but T was right, it's sold out. I think I spent about 1/2 hour with the sales clerk hoping he would find one at another store somewhere. No luck! I did however, get some deals at Crate and Barrel and I bought a lap desk for my lap top and it's awesome. I wasn't able to find a book with my gift card so instead I got the desk. I love it!I spotted another movie star, this time it was Chris Farley's brother. Does anyone know his name?
What is one of your addictions?
Submitted by Paperheart. If I have to choose just one it would have to be coffee. I love, love, love coffee. Something about coffee makes me feel "ahhhhhhh", know what I mean? ;) it's so calming-almost like someone just gave me a big ol' hug. I love to have coffee especially in the morning and sometimes at night, usually weekends.
omg it's so nice to have quiet time at home. so, so nice! I am finally done putting away the holiday decorations and cleaning the house so i can finally catch up on my dvr shows and just hang out. i can read, blog, sleep, relax or do nothing if i want to. what a sigh of relief. so nice. i can't say it enough. i want to stick my head out the window and just yell it out for everyone to hear. ahhhh!!!
i am very much looking forward to this long weekend. i can finally rest, rest, rest. i am getting off @ noon from work tomorrow. i'm not sure what we have planned but i need to get my fills done, that's for sure. i think we might go out for some authentic mexican fajitas...mmm. can you say heartburn?
i would love to go see a movie but there is nothing really out that i am interested in, well i am but they are chick flicks. i don't know if i want to put hubby through that...
did i tell you that i love the quietness around here?
What were your New Year's resolutions for 2006? How did you do?
Well, I usually don't like to say them out loud because then I never stick by them. I know, weird! But since we're on the topic I will jot them down. They are somewhat the same as last year and I think I did pretty well.
- Work Out: Continue to work out @ the gym but this year go 4 times a week instead of 3. I started working out last year and lost 10 pounds. I'm sure I gained them all back and some since I've practically skipped the whole month, for one I was sick and the other excuses are busy with the holidays and drop dead tired!
- Cook more: I pretty much have stuck to this resolution. I've become a big fan of the Food Network and have started to collect cook books. I DVR my fave shows and then jot down my fave recipes in a journal I started. I cook for hubby a couple times a week and then I have friends and family over for big Sunday dinners, this give me a lot of practice. I've actually become to enjoy cooking and I do very well. I would like to continue to better my skills and cook healthy too.
- Mom: I made a promise to myself that I would spend more time with mom and call her daily. I've kept up that promise I made to myself and plan to continue it. I spend more time with her on Sundays because we go to church and then shop or just hang out. What I do need to do more of is visit her at home. This I don't do very often and she lives right down the street from us, about 3 houses down!
- Hubby: Be a better wife! No explanation needed.
Not at my house, that's for sure. There is no sign of Christmas at my house,
well except for the lights going around the house but I'm sure those will be down by tomorrow. T and I did not want to spend the long weekend taking everything down so we decided to start early and early we did! YAY! ;We don't have any specific plans for the long weekend, well other than hang out, go catch a flick, get our grub on and shop, shop, shop. I want to find some deals. Yeah, they are probably already gone but I'm sure I can find something. T got me a photo printer and I think I might return it because I wanted an "all in one" printer with a scanner. What do you think? I don't know if I should just get a scanner separately? Hmmmm....
