i am having such a hard time with vox today. i've posted several times this am and it keeps losing my posts. fingers crossed.
so i had an excellent time this long weekend and i got some badly needed sleep, rest, laughs and more. on friday we went to yet another 80's concert at hollywood park. this time we saw when in rome (for the 3rd time) and missing persons. this was not one of the best shows we've seen there. anyway, the crowd was smaller than other nights and missing persons was all over the place, well mostly the lead singer. she talked about air pollution, saving the cats instead of people because we can work and take care of ourselves, and she even changed the lyrics to walking in LA to no one carpools in LA. dude, she was all over the place and it was hilarious!
for our 4th of july bbq i made a cucumber, tomato, basil, and feta salad and i also made a green salsa, yummy! hubby cooked carne asada, hot dogs, and chicken. we all met up at 5ish and i'm sure we lost some calories because it was so freaking hot!!! my sis and her roomie came over, my bros, and mom. roxy also has a guest, his hoochie mama sofia...too cute!
i was soo tired from the night before and from the heat that i totally lost my appetite. i made some margaritas for mom and sis, none for me thank you...lols. roxy was still terrified from the fireworks so we kept him inside most of the day...
after we ate we headed to my friend james house to check out their firework display. he always creates something spectacular and this year it was about 3000 sparklers taped together...here's a closer look.
the video i took sucked so i will have to post a better one later... anyway, we were at his house for several hours, as a matter of fact my sis, her roomies and i were the last ones to leave from my family. they gave up early along with paulie. they left before all the fireworks were lit. boo!
good times and thanks deloza for having my back, lol!
on saturday morning mom and i went shopping for a wedding gift and clothes (duh!). we had lunch and then off i went to get some rest before everyone showed up at 5pm for the luau later that evening.
the hawaiian luau was awesome. they spared no expense and even had dancers perform. see, now we don't have to fly to hawaii anymore...LOLS.
it was a very awesome party but way too hot, however it was a perfect ending to a long weekend.
happy birthday hubby!!! do you remember this picture from last year? LOL!
no crows this year, i'm sure he was happy about that...
tonight we are starting the celebration at my bro's apartment. this is actually the first time he has us over and he's been there a year already...times flies. he's such a typical bachelor. ;o) i'm excited to get together with his friends and co-workers to watch the lakers game plus play some good ol' rock band. i don't know if i will work up the courage to sign but maybe after a couple vodka tonics with extra limes i will be good to go!
i got hubby a couple outfits and i had a fruit/nut basket mailed to his office this morning. i couldn't pass up embarrassing him since i know how much he hates to let peeps know it's his birthday...lol!
tomorrow we are having friends and family over for a bbq. hope we will all survive the hot weather...ugh!
happy birthday hon, love ya!
we had such a nice weekend. it was so nice hanging out with my bros and mom on saturday. we had breakfast @ mimi's then since my bros are batman freaks they were on the hunt for some figures. they finally found them in pomona. freaks! LOL!
i found some nice shoes at the nordstrom rack and little bro found several pairs of luky jeans and a hoodie. we stopped at virgin's to take a shortcut and we started messing around with the hats...eveyone said i looked good in this one...what do you think? i would never buy it. where am i gonna go with a hat like that? what am i justin timberlake or a member of the blues brothers?
NOT! ;-)
since we were going to bbq later at my house we stopped at costco, target, and finally the market for some groceries. hubby grilled some chicken and carne asada. i made cole slaw, dip, and mom made fried beans, delish. my bros got the beer, chips and italian sausage to grill.
i was pooped from all the running around but that's my fault from trying to do too much...um, i'm an old fart i guess?!
james and paulie showed up around 6pm and we all hung out, ate like pigs and drank like lushes. the de la hoya fight was boring but we had a great time chatting and making jokes.
paulie had a brilliant idea to try a shot he's had before...1/2 part lime juice and 1 part coffee liqueur. i guess it's supposed to coagulate in your mouth and that it does, almost like spoiled cottage cheese. it's so gross. i had to spit it out because i gagged. hubby and others were smart enough not to do it.
most of us sampled tequila...patron, cabo wabo, and centenario. i liked patron the best. others peeps would be wine tasting but we were tequila tasting...lol.
everyone left around midnight. i was soo tired so we cleaned up and off to bed. good thing i drank plenty of water otherwise i would have been hurting the next day.
good times!
We celebrated my brother Frank's 32nd birthday yesterday. We had a BBQ for him at my house and had so much fun. T made bbq chicken and corn on the cobb. Mom made beans and I made a tomato/cucumber/feta salad and grilled french bread. I had to get a cake of course and it was crumblelicious!
The doggies put on a show for everyone and Bella is slowly but surely letting Roxy know she is the new boss. Everyone is noticing how much she's grown now and how much her feature are changing. I'm bumbed that her ears are not standing yet. I even trimmed her ear hair to reduce the weight on them...ah well. She's cute anyway.
...and here they are messing around.
Frank got some great gifts, especially mine (LOL). Bella and Roxy got him AMC movie passes and T and I got him the Batman HD DVD and a WWII time line book (both my bro's are war history buffs).
Thanks for everyone that came, helped and made it memorable!
Oh, before I forget. So everyone was tired of the music I had chosen so T changed it thinking he was putting on Mexican music (without reading the cd) and what actually played was Christmas music! We all laughed and gave him a hard time...it was funny! =P
I am so blessed and sometimes I tend to forget. I think it's good that I realize this and appreciate things and people more. I see that in the end it's not your friends or family that will stick by you like you think they should but it's your spouse. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate my friends and family (or lack thereof) but there is always that relationship with a spouse that you will never have with anyone else. BTW, I don't mean to sound bitter...but it is what it is...
I swear, this year has been so crazy, so much drama, negativeness, dark, ugly, shameful... Oh God, I could go on but what for? With all this said I think I've come out of it alright. It's been hard and it's still a struggle every single day but I'm alright. I have realized that my friends and more importantly my hubby is my strength. He's the one that has stuck by me. He's the one that's helped me though things and listened to me say the same things over and over again, watching me hold on to a little hope that was clearly never there. He's the one that's been there for me. And for this I am very thankful. I am very blessed.
T's birthday celebration continued last weekend. We chilled on Friday night with Mr. DVR after I got back from the nail salon. My girl always has some juicy gossip and we never run out of things to say. As a matter of fact we are getting together for dinner with our spouses after we get back from Cambria. I can't wait! Anyway, T and I watched The Office, Bobby and Lost.
We invited some friends to cook out on Saturday and we had a blast. I had not gotten together with them for a while now and I had almost forgotten how great it feels to have friends. Friends you could make fun of, friends you could share a cocktail and food with, friends to make you laugh out loud. Friends. We had a great time catching up, eating and getting a little wasted never hurt anyone...well I take that back. I did realize that I cannot stay up too late anymore (since everyone left at almost 2am) because that means my Sunday is shot. To say the least we got some rest on Sunday, hung out with Mr. DVR and slept all day. Later my brothers and mom came over to give T his birthday gifts but they didn't stay long. I meant to get on the treadmill but it didn't take me too long to change my mind. Sopranos was sooo good and it was a great finish to another fabulous weekend.

Show us you craziest or funniest self portrait.
Submitted by djgk. This is the only funny one I was willing to post of me with my high school buddy Andreas. We had such a nice time celebrating our buddy Rudy's birthday. We were so lit (as you can see) that we were taking the most retarded pics, can you tell?
