- recently my friend paulie took me to the coldplay concert in anaheim. we had a great time and the show was beyond amazing. i would see them again in a heartbeat. i loved the laser lights and it was all very visual and made the music come to life.
- we had thanksgivng at my parents home this year. i didn't feel up to hosting it so my auntie made a mexican turkey dish which was delish. we also had turkey breast and side dishes but i just ate the birria. my youngest brother and i bought some pies and we didn't have any trouble finishing it! i had the worst allergies soi ended up knocking out after rocking out to 3 songs on rock band. at one time i could hear my family singing living on a prayer by bon jovi. i woke up and laughed and then cringed because i cannot stand that band! LOLz. good times!
- we're just starting to decorate for the holidays and i have not started by xmas shopping yet. i bought one gift but i realized i've got a lot to get after all. sigh. i usually love the holidays but this year i don't. i guess i must be over it and have become my mother. noooooo!!!!!!!!! LOLz.
- sis and i went to our bro's apartment the other night and rocked out. we had a great time and have realized that i suck at guitar and i'm better off singing with my lame voice. =(
- tonight we're going to see an irish punk band...i can't wait! this weekend you will see me Xmas shopping. =S
hi everyone...sorry i have not been around, just haven't been in a blogging mood. hope everyone is doing great! the last time i posted was from halloween. what's new with me? LOTS! but recently we took a road trip to visit my cousin and her new baby (she's more like a sister). here are some pics...btw, i helped choose the name...yay! =P
i've been pretty busy lately and have not been keeping up with my blog as most of you can tell. this month has just flown by. i've been helping my younger brother move and set up his new apartment. i think we spent the last 3 saturday's in a row moving and organizing his place. this weekend we picked up his new furniture and set it up. it's starting to look really nice and i'm very happy for him. (cant wait for the housewarming party...w00t!) and i'm even happier that we're getting close again. it's sad how easy you can lose touch with someone. i hope it doesn't happen again...
i decorated for halloween pretty late this year, for me anyway. i've been in and out of this weird funk but with my sister's help we got it done a couple weeks ago. we are having some friends and family over for halloween for drinks, snacks, and rock band. some of us are dressing up and i can't wait for you guys to see my costume. i am going to look retarded but i don't care...lol. you will just have to wait and see...
for the last couple of months since my sister moved back from san francisco we've been talking a lot and have reconnected. it's almost like we picked up where we've never been before. does that make sense? we were never close but now that we've been apart from each other for such a long time and have matured we've become inseperable. she is 28 and i'm 35, *ahem*. i told her we're like gum stuck to each other now. i'm really happy that we're getting along and we're getting to really know each other.
i've realized how easy it is to lose touch with someone you really love wether it be friends or family. i've learned that it takes a lot from each other to keep connected. it's sad that although we're family we've all been so distant from each other...sad but true. i'm not regretting the past but rather looking forward to more special memories. things happen for a reason, this i know.
first of all i'm sorry i've been neglecting my blog and all of my neighbors. i will be back i promise. i've been in a funk and i can't seem to get out of it. anyway...
on a lighter note, i turned 35 last friday. my friends and family celebrated with me all weekend and i've got to say that it was one of the best birthdays ever, ever, ever! my co-workers got me a cake, some gifts, and lunch. some friends and family met us for dinner at home in los feliz. i decided to open gifts first instead of the usual tradition of eating dinner, cut the cake and open gifts.
i thought for sure i was going to get a ticket for the dodger game so i rushed through all the gifts. LOL! sadly i didn't get to go but i got something even better. i got some gift cards, some pink converse, hoop earings, money from moms, and some really touching cards. my sister dug up one of my old albums from the 80's and she gathered some pics from the old days. very touching gesture. i made myself not cry. my brother rc also wrote me a very nice card and so did moms. my bff got us tickets to see the smashing pumpkins in december. am i loved or what?
after dinner we met for drinks at the big foot lodge and had a ball...
on saturday night we wen to see our drummer friend bob play with his new band at the knitting factory in hollywood. they are called cascade array and they were pretty good. more good times...plus the dodgers won! =)
oh and one one last note, i am officially a "cougar in training" accorning to some of me peeps. LOL!
the friday before we left on vacation we went out to dinner with some friends and family. we had dinner at maggianos at the grove which was one of the best dinners evah! and of course the company was stellar...good times!
after dinner we decided to have a night cap at a nearby pub. what a great decision it was. my bro rc spotted one of the comedian's from SNL, chris parnell. we wanted to ask for a pic with him but then we were like whatever. no biggie. right after that my bro spotted another celebrity. this time is was dermot mulroney. do you guys remember him? he is hawt! when he was about to leave my bro said, "come on M you must take a pic with him, you have to! it's a once in a life time chance". since i has just had a stella i was brave. does anyone remember georgia rule?
me: hi, do you mind taking a pic with me?
dm: oh, of course not.
me: oh, thanks!!! btw, i love all your movies. (mind you, when we saw him we we could not name one movie until my bro googled him)
rc: (getting the camera ready) ok, ready?
me/dm: yes (as we hugged) meow!
dm: oh wow that was bright!!! i'm sure that came out.
me: *blushing* yes, i'm sure it did. thanks very much for taking the pic with me, i appreaciate it.
dm: you're welcome (holds my hand while he shakes it) and you are very sweet.
MEOW!!!!
tada....
i have been so tired this week and i'm sure it's due to lack of sleep. i usually have to be in bed by 10pm no matter what but a couple days last week i went to sleep around 11pm because i was out gallivanting (as hubby calls it) playing "dr. phil". so i must have at least 8 hours of sleep otherwise i'm a zombie the next day. during the week i get up at 6am-ish and leave work at 4pm. so thank gawd for naps because i needed them plus this humid heat has not been helping me...zzzz.
last week, as i mentioned before, we celebrated my brother frank's 33rd birthday. we had a nice little crowd going and had a great time. our friend cindy, bob, my bff paulie, sis, brudder raymond, hubby, mom and i joined in on the fun. we had dinner at our local thai place (poor peeps that had to hear us LOL and talk soo LOUDLY). we had some extra time before the flick so we headed to my house for some cake and drinks before heading back out to watch pineapple express. ZOMG the movie is sooo darn funny, you must watch it! check out the visuals...
i am soo ready for this weekend...last night while we celebrated yet another bday (sis bday..more later) we got some great news. our cousin who's just like our sister finally found out she's going to have a girl. i am so excited for them. she's been having one ultrasound after another and the baby kept covering her privates...lol. i can't wait to meet my little niece...this will be our first. LOL!
we got back last night from our out of town mini family reunion. i can't begin to say how much fun we had and how nice it was so see family members that i had not seen since i was a teenie. i also got to see my cousin liz who's almost a sister to me and is 7 months pregers. she got married last december, moved out of town and now she's due in november so it's been hard for all of us since we used to be so close. i cannot wait to see her baby, i'm sure we will make another trip before the year is over..
the whole weekend we were treated like royalty...*ahem* especially me by my godmother *blush*. she asked me what i wanted her to make me so i said, enchiladas, fried potato tacos, and chorizo con huevos. she even made us hand made tortillas on sunday morning. we never got a chance to get thirsty or hungry because we were always well taken care of. my mom and aunts made sure we were well fed and one of our cousins hooked us up with a huge mexican style dinner on saturday night. we had such a blast joking and sharing good times.
we left on sunday afternoon..tired and sleepy and hungover, lol. after i told everyone how much i loved them and how thankful i am for such a great time and awesome hospitality...several teardrops later (mainly by me) we left.
*sigh*
well we didn't get to go to the "aqua net" concert at the honda center this past friday. my bff ended up flaking out but that's ok. i wasn't really into it plus i was pooped from work. instead we treated him to dinner, sushi. he got my windshield fixed and now my car looks better...thanks paulie!
my cousin and her hubby came down from no. cal. to visit. it was fun catching up since we hadn't seen each other since late january. she is 4 months pregnant now. i wish she lived closer so we can see her progress and eventually see the baby grow up...sigh.
we had a great time catching up with the family and lots of peeps came to visit her and tony. our mom's made us dinner and i made my easy cole slaw salad (which everyone loves) and i picked up a cheesecake since that's liz's fave.
mom preparing "nopales" which i don't like..eek. what is it? cactus!
one tequila, two tequila...floor!
lols! not really. we just had a couple drinks and lots of laughs.
we made the men cut the cake like it was their birthday celebration since it was father's day weekend. liz and i made them hold their pose for a while, too funny!
we took roxy with us, my sisters roomate brought her poodle sofie and they hit it off. i think roxy is in love, LOL!
good times.
and btw, i fell at work today. i fell right on my ass. LOL i'm glad i didn't hurt myself.
not so good times.
we had an awesome mother's day weeekend and i hope you guys did too. i know i'm a little late with this but i've been busy...
hubby and i had a really nice date on friday night. after dinner we had some drinks and watched the lakers lose, boo! afterwards we went to toluca lake to check out the classic cars. i was a fun night and i think we both needed a nice relaxing evening.
we spent most of saturday running around town with flat stanley and taking pics of him. we left the house at 8:30am and got home around 3pm. boy was i tired when we got home...i couldn't take a nap because i still had to run to the market and get some groceries plus i was making mother's day dinner.
since it was mexican's mother's day on saturday we took mom to dinner at her fave seafood place, pacificos in culver city. i think it's become our fave restaurant too! i had the best shrimp cocktail and everyone else had fish...duh.
i decided to make dinner on sunday to continue the celebration. i made lemon spaghetti, balsamic chicken, and roasted cheese zucchini, delish!
after dinner mom opened gifts, we watched the lakers lose again before that and then we just vegged. i was so tired that i went to sleep at 9pm.
good times!
