first of all i'm sorry i've been neglecting my blog and all of my neighbors. i will be back i promise. i've been in a funk and i can't seem to get out of it. anyway...
on a lighter note, i turned 35 last friday. my friends and family celebrated with me all weekend and i've got to say that it was one of the best birthdays ever, ever, ever! my co-workers got me a cake, some gifts, and lunch. some friends and family met us for dinner at home in los feliz. i decided to open gifts first instead of the usual tradition of eating dinner, cut the cake and open gifts.
i thought for sure i was going to get a ticket for the dodger game so i rushed through all the gifts. LOL! sadly i didn't get to go but i got something even better. i got some gift cards, some pink converse, hoop earings, money from moms, and some really touching cards. my sister dug up one of my old albums from the 80's and she gathered some pics from the old days. very touching gesture. i made myself not cry. my brother rc also wrote me a very nice card and so did moms. my bff got us tickets to see the smashing pumpkins in december. am i loved or what?
after dinner we met for drinks at the big foot lodge and had a ball...
on saturday night we wen to see our drummer friend bob play with his new band at the knitting factory in hollywood. they are called cascade array and they were pretty good. more good times...plus the dodgers won! =)
oh and one one last note, i am officially a "cougar in training" accorning to some of me peeps. LOL!
the friday before we left on vacation we went out to dinner with some friends and family. we had dinner at maggianos at the grove which was one of the best dinners evah! and of course the company was stellar...good times!
after dinner we decided to have a night cap at a nearby pub. what a great decision it was. my bro rc spotted one of the comedian's from SNL, chris parnell. we wanted to ask for a pic with him but then we were like whatever. no biggie. right after that my bro spotted another celebrity. this time is was dermot mulroney. do you guys remember him? he is hawt! when he was about to leave my bro said, "come on M you must take a pic with him, you have to! it's a once in a life time chance". since i has just had a stella i was brave. does anyone remember georgia rule?
me: hi, do you mind taking a pic with me?
dm: oh, of course not.
me: oh, thanks!!! btw, i love all your movies. (mind you, when we saw him we we could not name one movie until my bro googled him)
rc: (getting the camera ready) ok, ready?
me/dm: yes (as we hugged) meow!
dm: oh wow that was bright!!! i'm sure that came out.
me: *blushing* yes, i'm sure it did. thanks very much for taking the pic with me, i appreaciate it.
dm: you're welcome (holds my hand while he shakes it) and you are very sweet.
MEOW!!!!
tada....
it's been a really nice end of summer. i know fall is just around the corner but if you were here in sunny california you'd think it's still summer, it's in the 90's today...ugh.
friday night my buddy paulie got tickets to the dodgers game so t and rc joined us. the seats were nosebleeds but we didn't care, so long as we were at the game and hung out. the dodgers beat az which is a good thing. we decided to meet up at a local bar near the stadium and my other brother fc met us there and sis sp.
on a funny note, on my way to the car i was left behind by the men in my life and i ended up falling right on my ass. it was pretty funny now that i think about it. i guess i must have tripped on a pothole, i don't know. i did pretty good because i didn't let go of my cig...lol! i thought i would be hurting the next day but i was ok.
on saturday afternoon i went to visit my cousins and their new baby. she had an emergency c-section last wed. i had been unable to go see her until this weekend. the baby is so tiny and so cute. it was nice catching up with them... she would not let me take a pic of her...boo.
saturday night we had tickets to watch the dark knight at imax with my bros and paulie. we had dinner and drinks and islands and then hung out at the bridge before the movie started. i was so excited to see it again and was looking forward to watching the joker and soaking in his every word but unfortunately i slept through most of the movie. we watched the 10pm show and since i was out running around all day i guess it caught up with me. ugh! it's all good though because we all enjoyed it. i was getting motion sickness so i had to keep my eyes closed. =S
loathe:
- nervous stomach
- sinus headache
- dry sinus
- humidity
- skin tags i am trying to get rid of (tmi)
- skin blemishes
- feeling so tired after work that i have to take naps
- sleepless nights
- weird dreams
- nosy neighbors that always have their eyes on me, i could just feel it.
- my work computer had some serious viruses but on the bright side...
L-O-V-E:
- i am getting a brand new computer at work because of the viruses. my boss said to me, see that's what happens when you look at porn. LOLs! he was totally kidding. i told him i did it on purpose so that i could get a new one! he said he was going to blackmail me and i said "OK, i will pay you off".
- labor day weekend, no work next monday
- that my bff is recovering well from his surgery and i will get to see him soon. plus he's getting an iPhone too! we call each other "wonder twins" and when we see each other we say "wonder twin powers...activate!" then we hit knuckes. we're retarded i know.
- that i am going to hang out with my cousin/little sis at her baby shower on sunday.
- hubby is going to the races over the weekend so i will have some "me" time on sunday. ;-)
- we went to my 12 year old cousin's birthday party on saturday night and we had a blast. here are some pics...
we celebrated my sister espy's 28th birthday last thursday. we had dinner at a local japanese restaurant which we got burned out on but i'm glad they liked it. i'm not a big fan of raw fish but i love california rolls and the shrimp rolls were pretty tasty too. we had a saki bomb which i had not had before and dessert while she opened her gifts. good times!
my poor buddy paulie is having surgery next friday so he's pretty bummed out. he says i can blog about it but i think it's a little too personal. he's been off of work for about 2 weeks already and will be back to work in september. what to do when a friend is feeling down in the dumps and needs a friend? well just call me and i will show you a good time,
LOLs!
we were planning on going to a local hang out with some friends and my brothers but it didn't work out that way so we watched cloverfield which btw, i loved. around 10ish we headed to big foot lodge in los feliz. i love that place, it's so relaxing along with an awesome vibe. we met some drunkers that wanted us to go have a late nite bite at king taco. umm, thanks but no thanks. who are you again? ZOMG! after hanging out there and talking about god knows what and laughing til' our sides hurt we headed to the dresden. the place was packed like sardines but we made it in and hung out for a while. we were both pretty tired so we called it a night.
today i am nursing a pretty wicked hang over. but i had some things to pick up at costco so i made myself get up and get on it. after a nice hour nap i got back up and cleaned the house. hubby made dinner and now i'm relaxing online wondering what we're doing later...
on a couple sour notes, my work computer has a virus. i thought i cleaned it out but no luck. i had to shut it down on friday and wait until i can get it fixed on monday. i'm not sure how i got it but i am a little on the worried side. wish me luck! but that's not all. roxy has, according to paulie who was going to school to be a vet long time ago but changed career fields, has kennel cough. poor sunny boy. it doesn't seem to be bad but we are keeping a close eye on him and if it persists we will take him to the vet on monday.
i have a date with my younger brother tomorrow morning...have i mentioned that i'm getting my iphone tomorrow? fingers crossed and once again, wish me luck.
and now....
- today is my brother frank's 33rd birthday...happy birthday bro! we're getting together with some friends for thai food and then we're going to watch pineapple express. i can't wait. i love to celebrate birthdays especially when they are other peeps'.
- tomorrow i am off, woo hoo! we're having a mini family reunion out of town. i am really excited and cannot wait to see my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.
- i've been on an interpol kick and cannot stop listening to them.
- i've been thinking of getting a laser procedure done for my embarrasing clammy hands. i think i have a nervous tick..ugh. need to do more research. what say you?
- the other day i went furniture shopping with my bff. we had a great time checking out some really nice and some really awful looking furniture. i'm looking for a chocolate leather sofa chair and ottomon..no luck. he ended up getting a tv stand for his plasma. it's very unique and very him...60's style. i cannot wait to share the pic with you guys...i can't even explain it right now. we had dinner at a little greek place in larchmont. i had chicken with 3 different types of cheese, roasted bell pepper and onions wrapped in a filo dough with a side of veggies and lemony potaoes. delish!!!
- i met an old friend for coffee the other night. we hadn't seen each other for over a year and a half. we talked for a longgg time, said some "i'm sorry's", had some good belly laughs, played catch up and cannot wait to get together again. *sigh*
- life is good.
i spent most of sunday with my youngest brother raymond. i just found myself reminiscing about that days events...i drove to his house in the south bay because we had planned to check out the 6 man volleyball competition in manhattan beach. how could i have passed up an event like that? beach+ sunny day+hot bods(meow)+good food and a little bro and sis bonding, come on you can't go wrong!
we spent a couple hours at the beach gawking at all the players and getting into the games, we hung out at
the small fish aquarium on the pier, and then we had a nice treat (besides lunch). someone standing next to us told us sasha from the lakers was standing around supporting the lakers dressed team. we were so close to him we could almost smell him! (not really). we're both lakers fan so we were stoked! (can you spot him?)we had lunch at this cute little italian restaurant
(fuhgetaboutit) called mama d's. it was delish and they made us feel right at home (they asked us for our first names). i had the lemon piccata chicken with a small side of pasta and veggies and raymond had the chicken parm, small side of pasta and veggies and we split a small ceaser (my fave). the bread and lemon with garlic and parsley was very good. i cannot wait to return....soon. at the end of the meal they gave us 2 homemade chocolate chip cookies, my fave!!!it was really nice bonding with younger bro and the only thing i regret is not making time for it more often. come on bro, we need to start exchanging tips on photography, iphone stuff, and batman. get on it!
love ya!
and cheers to a great weekend and boy did i need it!!! it was a rough week...
but for now, let me focus on the positive. geez, i don't know where to start?! i had one of the best weekends this summer by far. it all started with (another) 80's concert at the orange county pacific amphitheater with my bff paulie (hubby didn't want to go). we were ify about going because paulie's a little under the weather but we ended up making it and boy are we glad we went. the only seats available were the $50 pit seats so we took them and we scored! we were right in the front...NICE! i don't think i've ever been that close plus we were able to get up and dance which we love to do. back it up...beep! beep! beep!
it all started with patty smyth with scandal. i'm not really familiar with her or the band but paulie was and he almost sang every song by heart. i told him "you're so lame". LOL!!! the one song i do remember was "the warrior" (?). she sounded great, looked great and put on a good show. she left the stage and walked around with the crowd...nice touch.
during our 20 minute potty/beer/smoke break we made some friends. seriously i don't know what they put in the water in the OC but almost every one looks great, lots of plastic too let me tell ya. it almost looked like a cougar convention/big boob fest. anyway, everyone was pretty friendly which is nice when you're feening for a cig... i know gross..whateves.
the second band was berlin and y'all know how much i love berlin. we just saw them not too long ago but this time since we were so close we enjoyed the show even more. the lead singer (terry, i think her name is) still sounds good but looks even more amazing. that lady is in great shape...you go gurl!
the last band was pat benetar with her hubby neil giraldo. they look great and she sounds amazing. what a great show they put on and they played for a long time. she sang all her old hits and there was one particular song she didn't want to sing but did anyway, too bad i can't remember it...one too many stellas...bwahaha!!!
what more can i say? good times!
more pics here....we also went to a dodger game on sat. night with my bros and to the beach on sunday to check out the volleyball players but more on that later...
remember not too long ago i blogged about one of my photos being shortlisted for a san diego travel guide? well guess what? MY PHOTO WAS CHOSEN!!!!
OMG i am besides myself. i cannot believe it. i am so happy right now that i could scream. "i'm so excited, i just can't hide it, i'm about to lose control and i think i like it!" LOL : ))
thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
and now i would like to thank all the people that supported me, all my friends and family that tollerated all my picture taking, and especially raymond; my younger bro who got me started with photography. i love you all very much.
*cue the music and applause*
