What's the best gift you received this year?
my hubby's support, kindness, love, and understanding. this year has been a tough one for my family and i'm glad that hubby was there for me to help me see the brighter side of life.
does anyone remember that line? no? how about this one?
"There's nothing wrong with letting the girls know that you're money and that you want to party"
give up? SWINGERS!!! if you haven't watched it, watch it! i dvr'd it the other night and watched it saturday morning. i've always wanted to check out the filming locations and even thought about googleing them later.
we had plans to meet for dinner with our friends millie and e that same night. when they picked us up we didn't know where we were going to eat. we almost always leave it up to e because he knows lots of cool places. well, low and behold he took us to the dresden. he didn't mean to take us there but since it was right next door to where he meant to take us, we went. what a coincidence!
we exchanged gifts before dinner and we looked like we just hit the lottery...too funny
after dinner we made our way to the bar next door to check out the lounge act. i think they've been there as long as i've been alive, 34 years. LOL! they were very entertaining and we had a blast.
i'm sure we will be returning soon! but before that we are going to check out the other place the filmed at, "the derby" which is in the same area. can't wait to check out the swing dancing...
and here's one last line...
"Look, we're gonna spend half the night driving around the hills looking for this one party and you're going to say it sucks and we're all gonna leave and then we're gonna go look for this other party. But all the parties and all the bars, they all suck. I spend half the night talking to some girl who's looking around the room to see if there's somebody else who's more important she should be talking to."
you're early...yay! i must have been nice this year! or perhaps you were too busy with everyone else and forgot to check on me? : )
i got an early xmas present from my buddy millie tonight. she came to check out my tree and to drop off part of my gift. how thoughtful is she?
i get all embarrassed when people think of me and go out of their way to get me a little something. i so appreciate it, i just feel awkward. =S
anyway, she got me some pretty beveled shot glasses with snowflake cocktails stirrers for my tamale party. how thoughtful! i said to her i didn't want to use them because someone might break them. you know how drunks are...LOL.
thanks girl, you're the best!
last night we got together with our friends for an impromptu dinner. this time efren took us to a place where i grew up, memories... the restaurant is called la serenata de garibaldi in boyle heights. funny how i lived there for about 8+ years when i was a kid and had never really heard about it.
if you ask me, the neighborhood is a bit scary (this is one of the reasons my parents moved us). but all in all the food was good, the service was great and the wine from a mexican winery was delicious (darn, i forgot to write the name down!).
hubby had the salmon with a spicy homemade sauce, efren had the fish burrito, millie had the chile rellenos and i had the chicken fried tacos. my favorite was the cream carrot soup, by far the best soup i've had in a mexican restaurant.
after dinner millie found some deals at the discount store next door. hubby said i could do all my xmas shopping there, i guess he had his eye on some zebra colored chili chokers, lol!
if you're ever in the area this is a must try!
We went out for a pre-thanksgiving celebration with our friends last night. We decided to have dinner and margaritas at Conquistador in Siliverlake. E was surprised that I hadn't taken any pics yet but frankly I was enjoying myself too much plus the margaritas were super STRONG to say the least.
Millie's friends Stephanie and her hubby Johnny met us and they are a real pleasure. They're trying to get a party together for New Years so that might be an option for us because we've been trying to figure out what to do. We were all talking about going to a nice dinner and then dancing but our guys don't sound too excited about that. A house party would be fine for me, we'll see...
I had so much fun last night and laughed so hard that I almost peed my pants, seriously. I really needed it because this week was a little rough but that's over with and now time to continue the Thanksgiving celebration.
Oh, almost forgot. Several weeks ago I tortured Roxy again with another costume. The pics didn't come out but here's one...
Happy Thanksgiving my friends!
my girlfriend millie and i were invited to the new benefit's eyebrow bar at the mall. you can get your eyebrows did (lol) for free plus a cocktail...heyyy, party over here!!!! i guess this is their way of introducing you to their new counter plus i'm sure they hope you buy something you really don't need. tee hee! but really, i love benefit's products so i'm sure this will be worth it...
wish me luck!
i had a pretty busy weekend again and today i am exhausted! hubby and i went to dinner on friday night even though we said we would eat in. my girlfriend millie wanted to meet for a drink later in the evening and i thought that sounded like a great idea. we made our way to our local watering hole and it was super busy, almost like they were giving away free Geritol, lol! there was a mixed crowd of young peeps but more of an older crowd. we walked around to find a seat and instead ran into a friend from my past, lol. i think we used to work together then later hung out with a group of our friends. so we sat with them and it just so happens that they are very close friends of one of my good friends robert who just move to oregon. robert later stopped by to say hello. we had a great time making fun of each other and catching up. i guess if i ever want to reconnect with other high school buddies i just need to go there. it really is a small world!
hubby and i had planned to go to the horse races at santa anita around noon on saturday. this was our first time and i thought it was such a great experience. santa anita is such a great race track. it reminds me of the old days before my time, like the 1950's. the track is so old school, so retro and i just love that. we placed some bets but lost every single time. we weren't really betting high, heck we went just for fun plus we were only placing $2 bets. the horses are so beautiful and it's so exciting to watch the races. and the peeps, omg some of those people should clearly not be spending their money there but to each his own.
and they're off!!!
i splurged so much over the weekend that i made myself get on the treadmill on sunday morning and boy did i need that!
