i am having such a hard time with vox today. i've posted several times this am and it keeps losing my posts. fingers crossed.
so i had an excellent time this long weekend and i got some badly needed sleep, rest, laughs and more. on friday we went to yet another 80's concert at hollywood park. this time we saw when in rome (for the 3rd time) and missing persons. this was not one of the best shows we've seen there. anyway, the crowd was smaller than other nights and missing persons was all over the place, well mostly the lead singer. she talked about air pollution, saving the cats instead of people because we can work and take care of ourselves, and she even changed the lyrics to walking in LA to no one carpools in LA. dude, she was all over the place and it was hilarious!
for our 4th of july bbq i made a cucumber, tomato, basil, and feta salad and i also made a green salsa, yummy! hubby cooked carne asada, hot dogs, and chicken. we all met up at 5ish and i'm sure we lost some calories because it was so freaking hot!!! my sis and her roomie came over, my bros, and mom. roxy also has a guest, his hoochie mama sofia...too cute!
i was soo tired from the night before and from the heat that i totally lost my appetite. i made some margaritas for mom and sis, none for me thank you...lols. roxy was still terrified from the fireworks so we kept him inside most of the day...
after we ate we headed to my friend james house to check out their firework display. he always creates something spectacular and this year it was about 3000 sparklers taped together...here's a closer look.
the video i took sucked so i will have to post a better one later... anyway, we were at his house for several hours, as a matter of fact my sis, her roomies and i were the last ones to leave from my family. they gave up early along with paulie. they left before all the fireworks were lit. boo!
good times and thanks deloza for having my back, lol!
on saturday morning mom and i went shopping for a wedding gift and clothes (duh!). we had lunch and then off i went to get some rest before everyone showed up at 5pm for the luau later that evening.
the hawaiian luau was awesome. they spared no expense and even had dancers perform. see, now we don't have to fly to hawaii anymore...LOLS.
it was a very awesome party but way too hot, however it was a perfect ending to a long weekend.
we had an awesome weekend and i am so pooped today! and not only that but i got a fever blister on friday morning and it bugs the heck out of me! it seems to be going away so i'm happy about that!
hubby and i went to dinner on friday night, italian..mmm. we had a nice dinner and lots of yack, yack, yack...
sunday morning we rested until it was time to get ready and leave for another cousins birthday...this time it was for a five year old and the cutest thing ever!
it was so nice to get together with my family again, cousins i haven't seen in ages...we had a great time except that it was freezing and i, of course dressed like it was summer time! before we left i made everyone take a group pic and it came out suhweet!
no, not me but my hubby. check him out dancing with steff's mom. he's too cool for school, LOL! and yes that is old school disco in the background...you member?? spinners!
so here i am at our tamale party last friday. i was having so much fun plus paulie made sure i was a little tipsy before everyone showed up so i could relax...i think that was his excuse...lol. anyway, that helped me to get some courage to sing. i would never ever ever try anything like this...well, never say never.
omg you guys the party turned out to be a blast. i think this was our best tamale party by far. i had the worst headache all day but once i got home it was forgotten. weird how that happens right? hubby got some of the stuff ready before i got home plus roxy got a quick bath so he wouldn't offend any of our guests since he was certainly going to be the center of attention and oh boy was he ever!
i made bobby flays pomegranate sangria (3 bottles of red total), we had 3 different types of beer, tequila and wine of course.
Pomegranate Sangria
Recipe courtesy Bobby Flay, 2007
Ingredients
1 bottle fruity red wine
2 cups pomegranate juice
1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup Triple Sec
1/4 cup simple syrup (equal amounts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, cooled)
1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
1 large orange, halved and thinly sliced
1 green apple, cored, halved and thinly sliced
1 cup red grapes, sliced in 1/2
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher, cover and refrigerate for at least
4 hours or up to 48 hours before serving. Serve over ice.
i didn't add the pomegranate seeds because they were so pricey so i bought blackberries instead and omitted the grapes. it was a success!!!
our guest didn't arrive until a little after 7pm so i had time to catch up and have dinner with mom and hubby. she left with my bros to mexico on saturday morning so i was happy to have a little more time with her. her chorizo beans were the bomb and the tamales kicked butt! big thanks to paulie for bringing his own bottle of booze, i think everyone had a shot of that sweet tasting honey liqueur. can't forget to thank those peeps that brought us gifts too...much appreciated! : )
my brother raymond brought rock band and guitar hero and we had a blast. i think almost everyone had a shot at it, and yes even me. i would never ever be one to do kareoke and didn't think i would try to sing this time but once you get some alcohol involved, i'm there! and let me tell you, i rocked the house!
by the end of the night i had lost my voice from so much laughing and singing. hubby said he is going to sign me up for "america's got talent"...bahaha!!! i loved rock band so much that as soon as my bros get back we're having another party...can't wait! : )
i cannot believe how much i danced that night and omg i think i over did it on the drinking but i kept myself hydrated which i was getting crap for from all corners but i was going to be the one with the hang over- not them, well they were too...lol.
i've had the worst headache today and i wonder if it's because of the heater? we have it on at home almost every night and at work almost every day. my throat feels dry and my head is pounding. i've taken midol this morning and i just popped 2 tylenols.
sigh.
my tamale party is tonight and i've got the sangria and dip to make once i get home...then get myself ready but that only takes about an hour or less. the party starts at 7pm and i cannot wait to cut a rug, as we old farts say (lol) and get my drink on...hey!!!! my buddy is bringing the music...yay!
wish me luck.
i am taking my mom and brothers to the airport for their trip to mexico tomorrow morning. they are leaving for 3 weeks. this holiday will be a very different one but i am trying to be positive, key word "trying".
stay tooned for pics.

it's that time again for our annual tamale holiday party. we decided to plan extra early for it this year so i'm happy to say i'm ready! we are having about 20+ peeps, of course there are always those flakes that don't end up showing. nevertheless we have a good time.
we are serving red chile and green chile with cheese tamales (bought not homemade), rice and beans with chorizo. for a merry cocktail i am going to make sangria for those peeps that don't care to drink beer...ME! can't forget the dessert and snacks too.
my bro and his buddies are into playing guitar hero and rock band (not sure if that's the name?) so that will be fun to see them play. i think they have been getting together at his place on friday's for drinks...fun right?!
here are some of the pics from last year...
wish me luck!
The other night I woke up so happy, more than usual. I had a dream that T and I owned a huge beach house. We were having a party that day and were expecting a lot of friends and family. I saw friends from high school that I have not seen in a very long time, I saw family walking around setting up to hang out by the pool, Andreas was getting ready to fish right outside of my house and my dad took it upon himself to carry out a bar with stools that slid out of the table. It was almost flat and then you'd just pull it and the bar and stools would pop out. For some reason, I got mad at him for taking the table out...weird.
I waked around and mingled and was so proud of my house, it was so big and beautifully decorated, with big windows with interior shutters, big comfy couches and everyone was saying how much they loved my house and I was so proud. The house reminds me of the beach house on Something's Gotta Give. Then I woke up...hey, where's the damn ocean?
so i have another dinner party planned for this weekend. my girlfriend from high school and her family and some friends are coming over for an adult dinner party without the kids. yay! our menu is planned, my house is in order but i just need to get a couple things at the grocery store. for cocktails we are going to make margaritas, pina coladas and serve wine too. for dinner we are having pork chops, mashed papas, green beans, rice, shish kabobas and bread...mmm, i can't wait!
