we had a really nice time in palm springs last weekend. it was a lot quieter than our last trip in october. we happened to go when it was "biker" weekend so the whole place was packed and almost all of the bars were full. this time i felt like we were at a senior retirement community, lol. don't get me wrong, we had fun, rested, had some good food, got our drink on and napped a lot. ;-)
friday morning after breakfast we stopped at the outlet stores and picked up some pants for hubby. before we checked in we picked up some booze (lol) and some snacks for our vegging out pool-side. the weather was nice, not too hot. friday night was pretty dead and after a late dinner we didn't feel much like bar hopping so we walked off our food instead. on saturday we spent most of the day napping, eating, and shopping. after a late night dinner we walked over to the indian casino and hung out at the lounge. there was a live band so we enjoyed that and lol at some weirdos on the dance floor.
i am so glad we planned this little mini-vacation, just the two of us with no distractions, well other than worrying about roxy at home. i think next time we are going to board him that way no one is inconvenienced or imposed upon.
we stayed here and i especially loved their flowers. i appreciated them so much that i took some pics and now that's inspired me to garden lots and lots of flowers this spring.
What are you saving up for?

so last week hubby, roxy and i went camping to lake nacimiento near paso robles. we rented a trailer which is on site for 4 days. my brothers and mom met up with us on friday night after getting lost for about an hour. i would have been lost too if i had driven at night.
we took roxy with us and left bella with millie and e since she would not allow me to board her. they house sat too which was really nice of them. roxy didn't seem to care too much for camping plus it was so darn hot. i'm sure only the hard core camping peeps would enjoy that type of vacation, which clearly we are not.
the first couple of days we spent time on the water fishing, reading, swimming and relaxing. i'm not one to swim but since it was so hot i just went ahead and jumped in. picture me terrified before jumping in since i had not swam for a million years (lol). so i held on to a floating thingie and after about 5 minutes of contemplating i jumped, the floating device went one way and i sunk. so here's what i did wrong, first of all i forgot to hold my nose and close my mouth and second of all i forgot to paddle my legs to the surface. after i realized i was not coming up i began to move my legs and came up gasping for air. i know this is something you hear a 3 year old doing, heck even my doggie know how to swim but for some reason i just drew a blank and froze! so that day i decided i was never ever going to jump in the water again. well the next day i put a vest on and after about 5 minutes of thinking about it, i jumped. this time my bro was right next to me in case i didn't come up, which was going to be hard since i had a vest on. as soon as i came up, which was pretty fast i was triumphant!
roxy didn't care for swimming either but we put him in the water twice just so he could cool off. he swam but was more terrified than i was. he is such a great doggie but clearly does not like his routine messed with. for the first couple of days he would not eat. he was so distracted by the surroundings i guess. he did manage to eat after we kept nagging him. btw, he has major ocd. we watched him eat more closely this time and it's so funny because he has to do certain things before eating...major ocd. i guess he gets that from ME!
all in all we had a great time, minus the heat but it was fun getting together with my family since we hadn't done that for a while now. the walks at night after dinner was fun plus the clear sky full of stars was beautiful to see. i'm not sure we're going back next year and if we do, it will NOT be in the summer!
